SCIENCE CAFÉS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF GDANSK
We would like to invite you to open meetings in the form of science cafes bringing the scientific activities of the University's employees closer to a wider audience.
Wednesday, 11 May 2022, at 6 p.m.
The lecture 'Metalloleics in modern therapy and diagnostics' will be presented by Dr Agnieszka Chylewska, Prof. UG from the Department of Bionieorganic Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry, University of Gdańsk
Abstract:
What do we know about metalloles, what is their definition and what is their significance? What are metalloles used for? Since when have they been used? Which metal ions form the coordination centre? What factors influence their application properties? What is the cellular purpose and mechanism of their action? Are parameters such as the shape, size, structure of the metalloles crucial in terms of where they are applied and how they are distributed? And, to conclude, do the reported data on the preparation and properties of metalloles indicate promising prospects for their use?
The above questions constitute the basic package of issues with which we hope to interest you and to which we will try to provide clear and comprehensive answers during our forthcoming meeting at the Science Café. In addition, we will touch on topics such as the future of new alternatives for designing and obtaining effective structural solutions for active substances based on coordination compounds of transition metal ions in the fight against civilisational diseases of the 21st century.
Those who wish to ask a question can send it by Tuesday 10 May 2022 to: oblicza.nauki@ug.edu.pl
You are cordially invited!
The project is led by the Faculty of Chemistry UG and the Faculty of Economics UG.
