Program contents:
Issues of the lecture: Water as a molecule of life. Principles of sustainable water management; quality requirements that water supplied to consumers should meet. Aquaculture Wastewater and post-production waste. Principle of operation of wastewater treatment plants. Sources of wastewater pollution. Classes of water purity. Water treatment processes: physical, chemical and biological, aimed at, among other things: removal of iron and manganese compounds, softening, improving taste and decontamination. Unit processes used for water treatment: aeration, coagulation, sedimentation, flotation, filtration, straining, ion exchange, chemical precipitation, sorption on activated carbon, chemical oxidation, membrane processes, disinfection, infiltration. Examples of water circulation in food and chemical plants.
Issues of the laboratory: Basic activities in laboratory work. Exercises simulating examples of technological processes used to treat water and production waste.
