Members of the Laboratory of Biological Sensitizers are currently (in 2023) working on the following projects:

NCN (National Science Centre) grants:

  • CEUS-UNISONO " Radiosensitizing derivatives of pyrimidine or purine nucleobases: Mass spectrometry and quantum chemical studies on low-energy electron interactions in gas phase, water clusters and solutions "
    Principal investigator: Janusz Rak
Researchers: Lidia Chomicz-Mańka, Magdalena Datta, Samanta Romanowska, Adrian Szczyrba, Magdalena Zdrowowicz-Żamojć

The project is carried out in cooperation with groups from the Gdańsk University of Technology and the group of prof. Stephan Denifl from the University of Innsbruck

  • PRELUDIUM 15 " Modeling phosphorylation by human thymidine kinase 1. A crucial step in the rational design of thymidine-analogue radiosensitizers"
    Principal investigator: Samanta Romanowska
    Scientific supervisor: Janusz Rak

  • SONATA 17 Radiosensitization by the combined use of modified nucleosides and inhibitors of DNA repair to improve the efficacy of radiotherapy”

Principal investigator: Magdalena Zdrowowicz-Żamojć

Young Scientists Researches grants (BMN) 2023:

  • „Halogenothionucleoside derivatives as photosensitizers - mechanistic studies in the cellular environment”
    Principal investigator: Anna Czaja

  • „In vitro studies of the radiosensitizing properties of 8-trifluorooxobenzylamino-2'-deoxyadenosine”
    Principal investigator: Magdalena Datta

  • „Study on the DEA process and QSPR (Quantitative Structure-Property Relationship) analysis of mono-substituted bezyladenine derivatives as potential new purine-based radiosensitizers”
    Principal investigator: Adrian Szczyrba

Computational grant:
